Santorum and Casey Make Statements On Kerry's Remarks
Republican Sen. Rick Santorum:
"Senator Kerry owes an apology to every man and woman serving this country in Iraq, and to the families of the more than 2,800 American patriots who have given their lives
in service to this nation. To suggest soldiers bravely serving their country are only doing so because they didn't 'make an effort to be smart' in school is deeply offensive. We are indebted to the service and sacrifice of those who wear
the uniform, and John Kerry's demeaning comments
are despicable."
Democrat Bob Casey Jr.:
"From what I can gather, Kerry botched a joke. That's what he said, and I take him at his word. He served in combat. Last time I checked, the president and the vice president did not. The White House and the Santorum forces should get to work on dealing with the real problems in Iraq.
The first thing they should do is fire Mr. Rumsfeld instead
of spending a lot of time trashing Democrats."
