Quotes For The Week

  • "I love doing sequels" - Arnold (you know)

  • "People have asked me why I talked about unpopular things like the war ... the threat from Islamic fascists, from Iran, from North Korea, from Venezuela ... in this campaign. They asked, why didn't you just talk about the projects you delivered or the things that you accomplished?

My answer is that those are the things in the past, and what leaders are supposed to do is to talk about things that our country confronts in the future." -US Senator Rick Santorum

  • "Who the hell wants to live in Mississippi?" - Charles Rangel (NY Congressman (D))

'Summing It Up'

  • Monday - Republicans were given a glimmer of hope with the latest pew poll and Santorum closing the gap to 4 %.
  • Tuesday - Not only do the Republicans lose the House and Senate, but both the US and Pennsylvania lose a great leader - Rick Santorum.
  • Wednesday - The battle is not over; two states are still being fought over. Rumsfeld resigns.
  • Thursday - Republicans OFFICIALLY lose the Senate.
  • Friday - Ken Mehlman steps down - Steele steps up in the RNC. Also - Iran and Al Queda celebrate Republican Loss.

Green SU To Change Name!

Are you ready? Green SU's new name will be: S.L.A.P. (Susquehanna Liberal Activists and Progressives).

It's a wonder if they even know what that means...

Activists...funny, I'm sure the majority of students on campus didn't even know there was a Green SU on campus.

Oh well...Congrats to Green SU.

Election Results In US Bring Victory to Iran

Well that's good.

I wonder why? Perhaps because many of the elected officials recently ousted knew of the present danger Iran is to America. ie Rick Santorum.

How Long Will Carney Hold The 10th District?

Carney won - but only because of Sherwood's scandal. Many can agree that this is true. Carney has a lot of ground to cover in two years in order to maintain his seat. There is already talk of Bill Scranton running for the seat in '08. Will be interesting.

RNC Chairman Steps Down

Ken Mehlman decides to step down - RNC allegedly asks Steele (Maryland Lt. Governor) to take the reigns.

Mehlman has planned on stepping down since the summer - "win, lose or draw".

Before becoming head of RNC - Mehlman ran Bush campaign. What is next for Ken Mehlman?

SU College Republicans Record 40 Hours of Grassroots Activities

Perhaps one of the most active groups on campus, the SU College Republicans pushed out 40 hours of grassroots activities. Activities include numerous phonebanks, door to door, and rallies. The SU College Republicans helped bring a victory to Snyder County for Republicans.

-Good Job - on to 2008.

Oh yeah - Green SU - grassroots activities...? Let us know.

Goodbye Rumsfeld

A day after the election, Rumsfeld "resigns". Why AFTER the election? Why make a move like this AFTER defeat? Should they have had made this decision BEFORE the election. Perhaps that would have brought about a better result from the election.

Doesn't matter now. The question is what will happen now...

He's Still Here!

Yes, for all of those liberals out there who voted on Tuesday 'against Bush'. Here it is - just a small reminder that he is still here for two more years.

This is here for all of those people who are saying, "well, at least they are against Bush" - he's still here.

Two more years - your dear friend Nancy already stated that she has no intention to impeach him.

What were you thinking? Did you honestly think that this election would get rid of the President? We all know you hate him, and that is why *most of you voted the way that you did.

Enjoy.

It's Official - They Have The Senate

We have lost yet another conservative Senator - George Allen. To make it even worse, we have lost the Senate as well. Perhaps the new 'independant' will keep the Dems in line when it comes to certain votes.

Only time will tell.

Rendell Wins

Well, that's a shocker.

Fast Eddy does it again with his 'charismatic' appeal to PHILADELPHIA.

Congrats to Ed Rendell

And to Pennsylvania - look forward to more tenure with the famous governor of Philadelphia.

Casey Wins

Bob Casey has defeated US Senator Rick Santorum. Bob Casey is looking forward to "changing the direction of American". We cannot wait. Really, this will be an exciting term for Pennsylvania. Nobody truly know what will happen - literally! Will he vote for abortion? Will he vote against it? Will the leadership in the senate whip him into shape? Several TV stations report that he is a conservative Democrat as well - is he? Is he going to raise our taxes? So many questions left unanswered - really, who wouldn't be excited about this?

Bob Casey says that he has a plan for America. Whether that be raise taxes, increase spending, and let illegal immigrants flock in and win over our hard-earned money, that is up in the air. Who knows? I don't think Bob Casey himself truly knows what will happen.

Congratulations Bobby

Attention PA: Watch out - this will be a bumpy ride.

Carney Wins

Chris Carney defeats US Congressman Don Sherwood. Chris Carney, an amateur politician has served as a professor at Penn State Worthington Scranton. He has a family of five kids and claims that he is the typical middle-class civilian.

Carney portrays himself as a conservative Democrat (yes there are actually some of those). Unfortunately, congressman-elect has not been telling the entire truth.
  • Carney is endorsed by over 20 unions
  • Carney received an 'F' from the NRA
  • Carney's staff doesn't even know where he stands when it comes to social security - all they know is that he is against privitization
  • Finally, Carney will be a freshman congressman - the 'rookie'. Leadership will get a hold of him, and he will be voting with the libs before you know it.
This is the first turn "in the right direction".....isn't it?

Once again, this will be a long two years. Maybe we're wrong and Chris Carney will stand for the 10th district and its conservative values. Sherwood also brought money to the district - hopefully Carney will bring money this way as well.

THE RESULTS ARE IN

In SU's region:

10th District Goes to Dem. Chris Carney (Chris Carney 53.2% Don Sherwood 46.8%)

US Senate Goes to Dem. Bobby Casey (Casey 58.7% Santorum 41.3%)

Governor Goes to Dem./Incumbent Ed Rendell (Rendell 60.3% Swann 39.7%)

The Republicans' reign appears to be over - perhaps in the senate as well.

Congrats to the Democrats

And to America - you are in for a long two years.

Latest Poll - Casey - 48.1%, Santorum - 44.1%

Interesting...are PA dems losing it?

Pew Poll - Republicans Cut Down The Gap

Click here to read about the latest poll taken on the progress of the two parties. Pew poll shows a gap of four points. Does this mean that the republicans may actually keep the house? The Democrats seem to be shaking in THEIR boots now. Perhaps the GOP GOTV technique is working. Who would have thought?
